

The Beginning
"About 3 years ago, I was on the stair master thinking
about how I could help women to become more active. I had learned from
research that a woman's ability to adhere to physical activity
programs may be related to a positive perception of her self-worth.
I knew that this was something that I could teach women.
That day, I was reading a health book as I was working out. Then all
of a sudden it hit me: Reading...women love to read, and women love
to get together with friends and talk. So I thought, a book club for
women. But instead of reading mysteries, I thought that we could read
about changing behaviors, specifically physical activity participation."
Reaching Out
"In an effort to
help as many women as possible make positive changes
in their health and quality of life, I thought that we should develop
a Website for Women Bound to be Active.
Women
Bound to Be Active is a wonderful opportunity for women to learn skills
that are necessary to maintain lifestyle changes. Women sometimes lose
sight of the importance of taking care of themselves mentally and physically.
Women are often thought of as caretakers
and have responsibilities related to their jobs, families, and friends
that are important."
